Our Farmers

At CRIATURA we work with several small local farmers and use selected raw materials to produce the best herbal teas with the true flavor of aromatic plants and hand-picked fruit.

Igor Pinto

Igor is one of our blueberry producers, and it is in Marco de Canaveses, on his grandparents' farm, once dedicated to grape and wine production, that Igor continues the family's connection with the land.

Blueberries are grown on a 20,000 m² farm using organic and sustainable practices. "We use renewable energy, monitor water consumption through humidity sensors, and use drip irrigation to ensure more efficient water use. We also create shelters for insects, birds, and bats, promoting biodiversity on our farm."

One of the biggest challenges they face today is "creating enough scale to reduce production costs. We often feel overwhelmed by large producers, which leaves us more vulnerable to intermediaries, since we don't have the ability to export directly to large customers."

"We would like to leave a legacy of even more efficient production, with a lower environmental impact. We also seek to demonstrate that organic production is effective, efficient, and productive, with the advantage of producing healthier food with a lower impact on biodiversity and the environment. What motivates us is the desire to prove that organic farming can be sustainable, efficient, and productive, while preserving biodiversity and improving food quality."

João Tiago Ferreira

João Tiago is our producer of lemon verbena, thyme, and stevia and has been our supplier since the beginning of the project.

His connection to agriculture also began with his grandfather, "who was the first owner of the farm where I now have my aromatic herb farm. I can say that it is a family tradition that has been passed down from generation to generation."

Currently, they grow aromatic herbs on an area of about 2 hectares.

On the farm they compost and use efficient irrigation methods, rotate crops and use renewable energy (solar panels).

Some of the biggest challenges they face include "market access to sell their products and competition with large producers, labor shortages, climate change that affects harvests, and dependence on intermediaries to sell our products."

"I believe that by fostering a true connection with the land, we can inspire future generations to care for and value ecosystems, ensuring a more balanced and prosperous future for all."

"A perfect day on our farm is when we harvest a bountiful crop, feel the gratitude of a job well done, and see the satisfaction of our customers upon receiving our products."

António is our organic raspberry producer and has his own production farm of approximately 3 hectares in Troviscal, Oliveira do Bairro.

He founded Green Flavors, an agricultural company dedicated to the production and sale of Kiwi, small fruits (raspberries, strawberries, blueberries and blackberries, cherries, apples) organically and sustainably.

Take advantage of the "ugliest" fruit to transform it into delicious jams and dried fruits.

It uses preventive and cultural methods, such as rotations, green manures, composting, consolidation and the installation of living hedges, among others, to contribute to improving soil fertility and biodiversity.

Located in Vila do Conde, we find Quinta das Aromáticas . A farm with origins dating back to 1756, it is a living testament to local history.

Recently renovated for rural tourism, aromatic production is the farm's lifeblood. Plantations include a wide variety of species, such as rosemary, thyme, mint, lemon verbena, lavender, and others.

They are our suppliers of peppermint, which was awarded the Gold Medal in 2025 at the 12th National Competition of Traditional Portuguese Aromatic Herbs.
